Research summary:

In Dr. YANG’s previous career, he has chaired funding from various sources, including ESCAP of United Nations, APEC Transportation Working Group, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Natural Science, Research Grants Council (RGC), NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme, Hong Kong Policy Research Fund (PPR), National Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Hong Kong Marine Department, Hong Kong Tourism Commission and etc. He has published more than 60 SCI/SSCI papers in over 10 international academic journals including Transportation Research Part A, B, C, D and E, Transport Reviews, Journal of Transport Geography, Transportation Science, Transport Policy, Energy, Maritime Policy & Management, Maritime economics & logistics, Accident Analysis & Prevention, Ocean Engineering, Journal of Navigation, Research in Transportation Business & Management and etc.

Scholarship opportunities:

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's institutions. The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$322,800 (approximately US$41,400) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,500 (approximately US$1,730) per year to each awardee. Tuition fees are waived.

Besides HKPFS, various other Fellowship & Scholarship schemes are provided at PolyU (check https://www.polyu.edu.hk/gs/prospective-students/fellowship-scholarship-schemes/). Also, a departmental scholarship can be provided to Ph.D. applicants.


Requirements:

Self-motivated economics, engineering, and business students with strong mathematics background and good English ability who are interested in pursuing a PhD in the areas of shipping, transportation, and logistics are strongly encouraged to contact me by email: dong.yang@polyu.edu.hk
